Writing your own vows is a sentimental and sweet way to personalize your wedding ceremony. Showcase the words that are meaningful to you by including them in your decor. Having a calligrapher create a backdrop of your vows to put behind the altar or as an aisle runner. Standing on the words as you're getting married brings new life to the promises you're making to each other.

No one likes to think about rain on their wedding day, especially when it's an outdoor affair. It's tempting to just tell yourself it won't happen and forgo making a rain plan. In my experience, it's always better to be safe than sorry. I know how unappealing the thought of having to purchase umbrellas or put down a deposit for a tent you may not use is, but think of these expenses as an investment in your guests' comfort. If it does rain, your guests will be grateful and much happier that they can enjoy your wedding day while staying dry.

Many venues only allow insured vendors to work on-site. Not only does this protect the venue, but it also protects you. You don’t want to be responsible if a guest trips over your photographer’s tripod and hurts themselves. And you don’t want to be liable for replacing linens that were scorched by candles. Insurance is for those “worse case scenarios”, but in the case something does happen you’ll be glad you did your due diligence.
